A while back I decided to upgrade the speakers in my Koch Multitone 2×12 amplifier (pictured above).  It’s a great amp and has a lot of versatility with 3 channels.  They can usually be found for a decent price too.  I highly recommend them.  That being said, I found the stock speakers (pictured below) to be kind of harsh yet muddy and indistinct at times.  The stock speakers appear to be made by Jensen specifically for Koch amplifiers.  I don’t have anything against Jensen at all, I just wasn’t getting along with these particular speakers.  I felt it was time to make an upgrade.

I decided to go with Weber Speakers because I’ve had great luck with them in the past.  I had previously upgraded a Fender Super Reverb with Weber Speakers and I was really blown away by the difference it made.

Since they have so many models to choose from I decided to email them to see what speakers they would recommend for my amp and playing style.  CJ responded the very next day and recommended a mix of speakers.  He said “I recommend one Ceramic Blue Dog for the chime and clarity on the upper end without being harsh, matched with one Ceramic Silver Bell for a full and powerful low end with focused lower mids.  These two speakers blend well in the midrange to give you an overall full sound with great harmonic content.”

I ordered them, received them, and tested them out as soon as I could.  Once again I was very impressed by the difference it made.  I found everything CJ described to be true.  The different tones of the speakers blend together beautifully.  The tone seemed much more open, clear and yet smoother than the stock speakers.  I put together a short YouTube video to demonstrate the huge difference this speaker upgrade made.

To sum it up, I had another great experience with Weber Speakers and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their speakers.
