- Better Low Gain Tones – soft clipping option also allows some clean signal to come through for much improved low gain tone compared to stock version
- Three Clipping Diode Configurations – allows three different levels of distortion and compression so you can decide what feels best for your playing
- Increased Bass Response – key capacitors are replaced to increase the level of low frequencies for a fuller, richer tone
- Smoother Treble – internal components are replaced with different values to sweeten the treble response and give the filter control a more useable range
- Increased Clarity – the stock op amp is replaced with a TL071 to add definition and dynamics
- Greater Versatility – two toggle switches are added to unlock tones not available with a stock Rat.
- Custom Look – white chicken head knobs look great and make it easy to see settings on a dark stage. An ultraviolet LED also gives it a custom look
Soft/Hard clipping toggle switch is located on the left hand side. Hard clipping mode is the stock configuration for the Rat. It has a harder edge and is more for distortion or Fuzz type sounds. Soft clipping allows for smoother overdrive tones and allows more clean signal to come through for lower gain tones.
Diode selection switch is located on the right hand side. This three way switch selects between clipping diodes to set the clipping character and feel. Left position selects a pair of SCHOTTKY diodes for the most compression and most distortion available. Right position selects a pair of MOSFET transistors for less compression and a more open sound. Finally the middle position selects one of each type for ASYMMETRICAL clipping. This blends characteristics from both diode types.
